XGEN, XGEN 2 and XGEN5 Dynamo Regulators suppress overload and protect all bulb types and electronic circuits.
Brightness is not affected when the voltage is below overload. These regulators are very lightweight - the maximum weight is 9g installed.

3W Hub Generators produce much more than 3W at high speeds, especially on small wheel bikes, and are frequently burning
out factory-fitted regulators. This causes LED standlight units to fail. XGEN5 is designed to control this excess power.

* The darker blue areas indicate where an external regulator is definitely required for Nicelite LED bulbs (push-in and screw cap fittings), and recommended to improve reliability with all filament bulbs and LED standlight units. Systems shown in light blue normally have a factory-fitted regulator and require an external regulator only "WHEN REQUIRED" due to failure of the original regulator.

XGEN and XGEN5 - FOR TYRE DRIVEN DYNAMOS AND HUB GENERATORS

XGEN is for TYRE-DRIVEN DYNAMOS, and XGEN5 is for 3W HUB GENERATORS

XGEN and XGEN5 have the same installation procedure, the
only difference is XGEN5 is a larger, heavy duty unit with a much
higher capacity than most factory-fitted regulators. Both regulators can be positioned neatly under the headlight bracket.

(1) The regulator ring terminal is bolted to the earth/ground side of the circuit.
(2) An automatic splice connects the plain regulator wire to the supply wire from the dynamo-generator.

TWIN WIRE SYSTEMS: There is an alternative installation for twin wired systems. In the case of hub generators switched at the headlight, it is preferable to fit the XGEN5 to the wire or wires leading to the tail light (if fitted). Please open the Fitting Instructions for further information.

KIT CONTENTS:

XGEN2 - FOR STURMEY ARCHER 1.8W DYNOHUBS

XGEN2 fits directly across the terminals of a Dynohub, as shown in Fig 3.
